A new video has been released showing how work is progressing on a 72-affordable home development in Ipswich, with all foundation works now being completed. 

A mix of houses and flats is being built on Bibb Way, including 41 flats and 31 houses.

The houses will include 23 two-bed homes and eight three-bed, while most of the flats will be one and two-bed properties.

The site was previously occupied by BT and has been empty since 2015. 

The homes, which are all set to be at affordable rent, will also have roads access, new public footpath along the Alderman Canal, new pedestrian access to Handford Road, car parking and cycle storage facilitations, as well as refuse/recycling storage facilities and an open space. 

Handford Homes, owned by Ipswich Borough Council, has signed contracts with contractors to start work on the scheme in Bibb Way in the summer of this year.

Brooks & Wood, Pentaco and Handford Homes are working in partnership with the council to construct the homes. 

Steve Russell, director of Brooks & Wood Ltd, said that the project is progressing well, with all pilling and foundation works now being completed.

Brickwork and ground floor installation has just begun on the site.

More than 400 affordable homes are set to be built across Ipswich by Handford Homes. 

This includes the completion of the £3.3m Grimwade Street flats in 2022.

A further 96 homes will be created across a 5.4-acre site in Ravenswood and 23 new council homes built in Sheldrake Avenue, Coltsfoot Road, Halton Crescent, Mallard Way, Emmanuel Close.

There are plans to create 20 homes and six flats on the former Diesco garages site in Hawke Road NS turn the former Hope Church in Fore Hamlet into 30 flats by 2025.
