A mother of a four-month-old baby said she was "physically shaken" and "absolutely shocked" when the seat her child was sitting in collapsed and fell into the trolley.
Katie Herrington from Kesgrave was about to start shopping at Morrisons in Sproughton Road, Ipswich, when the incident occurred.
Her four-month-old son was strapped into the trolley seat securely, when just as she was walking into the supermarket, the basket that the baby was in fell into the trolley, with her son falling in too.
Mrs Herrington states that he was only in the seat for a few minutes before it collapsed.
She said: "It was a loud bang and I screamed, and these two ladies who were walking in at the same time came rushing over to me to check I was alright.
"I was absolutely shocked and physically shaken.
"It has really affected me, made me not trust shopping trolleys.
"I was quite disappointed at how they dealt with the situation, the first time they only asked whether he was ok, I had to ask to see the first aider.
"They also didn't do an incident form until I asked them to do one."
Mrs Herrington took her son to Ipswich Hospital to get him checked due to his young age and the fall sustained.
Her son suffered no major injuries in the incident.
She continued: "I'm disappointed with how it was dealt.
"There was a lack of concern for something that could have been a fatal injury if he had landed wrong.
"It's left me quite shaken."
A Morrisons spokesperson said: "We were really sorry to hear about this isolated incident and are in touch with the customer directly.
"Our store colleagues offered her and her baby assistance promptly at the time but following her feedback we are now reviewing the incident to see what else we could have done to support her.
"We can also confirm that the broken trolley was removed immediately."
