Plans have been submitted to renew the lease on a short-stay car park in Ipswich.

An application has been submitted to continue the use of a public car park near St Michael's Church on Upper Orwell Street and Bond Street.

The car park allows users to park there for a maximum of five hours between 8am and 6pm from Monday to Friday.

The car park consists of 14 spaces, including one disabled parking bay.

Previous planning permission was granted in February 2022 and should be renewed before February 9, 2024.

A vacant area of land located close to the Bond Street car park may soon be home to a couple of new tower blocks.

Plans have been underway to build flats on the area of scrubland known as Reeves Yard for almost 20 years.

Permission was granted for two tower blocks totalling 12 flats to be built in 2006, but this development never went ahead. In 2016, permission was again sought and granted to create nine flats. However, planning permission expired in February 2020.

Ipswich Star:

A month ago, Ipswich Borough Council received further plans, proposing to create two three-storey tower blocks, creating 12 flats, as the original proposal intended.
