Part of the road has started to sink in east Ipswich.
The defect was spotted in Foxhall Road, close to Derby Road, on Monday afternoon.
Suffolk Highways are at the scene and the divot has been coned off.
It is not yet clear if the road will be closed.
Suffolk Highways has been approached for comment.
