The owners of a family-run Ipswich restaurant have been left “overwhelmed” by its national food award win.
The Grill at Twenty5, in St Nicholas Street in Ipswich, won a ‘highly revered’ Gold Seal award in the Good Food Awards for 2023/24.
Tina Leamon, who owns the restaurant alongside her son James, expressed her delight at the win.
“We are just so overwhelmed by it,” she said.
“We are thankful to all our customers who voted.”
The Good Food Awards recognise the hard-working teams who strive for culinary excellence within their field.
The winners are chosen for their food quality, service and value.
Revealed: The Suffolk restaurants to win in the Good Food Awards this year
READ MORE:“This isn’t our first Good Food Award win,” said Mrs Leamon.
“We have previously won two Blue Ribbons as well as a Gold Seal before”.
The owners took over the restaurant in 2019 and spent two years opening and closing because of Covid lockdown restrictions during the pandemic.
As well as serving food, the restaurant is also involved in initiatives to help the community.
One the last day before it closes for Christmas, the business hosts a breakfast morning offering a free breakfast to homeless people, and this year will the fifth year of running it.
A team of volunteers also head out into Ipswich to deliver food to those in need.
It was announced earlier this year that the team behind The Grill at Twenty5 was also taking on the Wild Man pub in Sproughton, outside Ipswich.
The Grill at Twenty5 was not the only Suffolk eatery to celebrate picking up a going in this year's Good Food Awards.
Haverhill restaurant Baltic Amber was awarded a Blue Ribbon accolade, recognising its high customer ratings and votes.
Spice Lounge in Mildenhall also scooped a Blue Ribbon accolade.
