Ipswich MP Tom Hunt visited Ipswich Academy on Friday morning, ahead of the 10-year anniversary of the school’s revamping.

The MP met with the school’s headteacher Samuel Fox and said that he had a “very positive view of the school, and always have done.”

Mr Fox was keen to draw Mr Hunt’s attention to a recent survey circulated amongst parents.

Of the respondents, 87% of parents felt that their child was safe at the school. A further 89% said that students enjoy coming to school, and that they would recommend sending their child to Ipswich Academy.

A further 91% said that the students enjoyed coming to school.

The MP and headteacher agreed that meeting the needs of neurodivergent children and those with additional needs was of great importance, and Mr Hunt praised the school for being ambitious for its students.

“I think that Ipswich Academy is a really strong school and does a great job of serving the area,” he said, adding that the ward of Gainsborough has a “strong identity and sense of community”.

“I want the boys and girls of Gainsborough to dream the same dreams as everybody else,” he said.
