The Suffolk coast at risk of flooding after heavy rain

The Environment Agency issued an alert for several Suffolk rivers on Friday afternoon, warning people to avoid the areas around the Rivers Deben, Lark, Orwell and Stour.

Now the flood risk has been extended to include the whole of the Suffolk coastline after the heavy rain.

"Flooding is possible in this area," reads the alert.

"Avoid using low-lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding."

This comes after a yellow weather warning for rain was issued by the Met Office until midnight this morning, with spray and flooding "likely" to affect homes and roads.

The Environment Agency did not say for how long the alert would be in place.
