Emergency services carried out a controlled explosion after reports of a suspected grenade in Felixstowe.
HM Coastguard responded to a 999 call from a member of the public reporting military artillery by Landguard Fort in Felixstowe at 1.30pm on Sunday.
Felixstowe Coastguard Rescue Team, Suffolk Police, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were sent to the suspected grenade below the high-water mark.
A spokesperson for the Coastguard said the team provided safe cover whilst the EOD conducted a controlled detonation that afternoon.
