Two new flats and a four-bedroom house share will soon be available in Stoke Street in Ipswich.

Ipswich Borough Council has approved plans to extend the end terraced house at 14 Stoke Street, creating two new flats and a house of multiple occupation (HMO) for four people.

According to a heritage statement prepared by Nicholas Jacobs Architects, the building dates back to at least the 1800s, but is likely to be far older.

However, in recent years the building has been allowed to fall into a “poor state of repair”, having been “left derelict for several years”, according to a planning statement prepared by the Ipswich-based Wilkinson Planning.

Ipswich Borough Council approved plans for the building to become two flats and an HMO on September 20.

A kitchen/living/dining area for the first flat will be created in the basement, with a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor.

A kitchen and dining area will also be created for the house share on the ground floor. The first floor would have four bedrooms, all complete with their own bathroom.

The two-bedroom flat will be created on the second floor, with a kitchen, a living and dining area and a room to be used for amenity space.
