The trial of a 24-year-old Ipswich man accused of attempting to rape a woman and a 17-year-old girl will take place next month.

A further case management hearing in the case of Adiley Pires, who has been remanded in custody, was held at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday.

The court had been informed that Pires was not well enough to attend in person and the hearing was therefore held in his absence.

Pires, of Kensington Road, Ipswich, has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting and attempting to rape one of the alleged victims on October 17, 2021 and not guilty to attempted rape.

He has also denied an offence of assault by beating in relation to the other alleged victim, who was 17 years old.

Police were called to an alleged incident near Tower Mill Road last October.

Pires' trial, which is expected to last 10 days, will get underway at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday, October 16 this year.

Judge Emma Peters directed that a pre-trial review should take place on Wednesday, October 11.
