A pub in Ipswich is celebrating its one-year anniversary, in a year filled with lots of highs and renovations.
Irish pub Shamrock has been celebrating its first year of business, one that the owner and manager has said has flown by.
On September 5, 2022, Steven Wells and Gus Chrysomalis took over the premises in Upper Brook Street, with hopes of turning it into a second home for customers.
Now one year on, they, along with floor manager Frank McFadden, have helped make customers feel welcome and made renovations to make it a staple in Ipswich.
Gus said: "It doesn't feel like a year, it feels like a very long month, and it has been great."
Steven added: "We are delighted we have been able to grow it substantially.
"We have grown the client base, have lots of regulars, and we have made changes and significant investments in some areas.
"We brought all the toilets, which were in a bit of a state, to a good standard, and made improvements to the seller which was a grand project to make sure that every pint was a perfect temperature and best quality possible."
Highlights from the past year include the day Ipswich Town won promotion to the Championship, with goalkeeper Christian Walton celebrating in the pub with fans.
Also among the highs was the pub being used as a location in One Ranger starring John Malkovich, a band performing and recording their album in the pub, and, being an Irish pub, St Patrick's Day.
Going forward, they are going to have more live music a week, and they have said that more bits need to be done to the pub and the outside area.
Steven finished by saying: "Thank you to all of our customers for supporting us because there was a question mark over what we were going to do to the pub, but they have stuck with us and helped us to grow.
"Some of the bands we have had are absolutely amazing so a big thank you to them too."
