A new independent florist is due to open next month - offering “something new” for floristry and interiors in the town.

Artisan Savant Floristry is set to open in the third week of September as a floral atelier and shop in Old Foundry Road in Ipswich, near the main gates for Christchurch Park.

Run by husband-and-wife team Sandra and Jones Oviawe-Jones, the shop will offer new ways for customers to be involved in staging their own homes, using Sandra’s background in interior design and photography.

The couple moved to Ipswich from Falmouth in Cornwall to pursue a business in floristry, and the Grade II listed building near Christchurch Park became available.

Mr Oviawe-Jones said: “We wanted to get into floristry for some time, and when the store came up it suited the features we were interested in – a period property, nice features, good location, a visually-aesthetic area and building.

"It’s going to be new for Ipswich. We hope to offer people access to an independent florist and florist inspirations, leveraging on my wife's background in interior design.

"We have come up with a concept which we are not going to reveal too much about yet. It allows people to be more involved and engaged in the selection of their floristry and the designs, even in retail."

The business will offer home floral staging services, to supply and help people with adorning their homes consistently and staging according to their budgets.

Mr Jones added: “As we are local, people can come in and have a chat and we can support them that way.

“We know the high street has not necessarily been thriving recently, but we think Ipswich has a fantastic high street and is going to be held up by indies, so we happy to be a part of that and contribute to the survival of the high street.”
