Ipswich Cornhill was a sea of England flags and shirts as many people watched the Lionesses fall to a slender defeat in the Women's World Cup final
England Women's team lost 1-0 in the showpiece to Spain on Sunday, a game that was shown in pubs, bars, stadiums and town centres around the county.
There were many young girls with family members, all wearing football shirts, with one, Isabella Nial, out with her family watching the game.
Isabella plays for St John's under-six team in Ipswich, and her mum, Beth, said: "She has expressed a real interest in the sport, and now they have such wonderful role models to really encourage women and girls in school that they can achieve.
"It's fantastic, football encourages her to be active, gives her a chance to develop skills and look at the possibilities it could offer her."
Kelly and Natalie were also watching on the Cornhill, with Natalie saying: "When we were younger, we knew what it was like to have no women's teams to play in.
"They are doing it for the girls, and they are doing something that our men's team can't do at the moment.
"There are always promises when something happens, like we were promised statues at Wembley after the Euro win last year, and that hasn't happened, and if we are going to pump money into the women's game, attitudes need to change."
Caroline, who's not from the area but wanted to be part of the atmosphere, said: "I'm an Arsenal fan and I have been going to watch the women's play for a couple of years and the change has been amazing. You can't get tickets anymore at games.
"Long may it continue, I want to see it grow and get better and better.
"I saw something that when the men won the World Cup in 66, there were 16 teams involved, these girls have faced so much adversity and are in the final, and won a major trophy last summer.
"Give them all a statue."
