A man is in a critical condition and another has suffered serious injuries after a serious assault in Ipswich.
Officers were called to the BP garage in Norwich Road at about 12.25am on Sunday morning after two men had been injured in an altercation on the forecourt.
The two men, aged in their 40s, were found with head injuries.
One man has been taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, where he remains in a critical condition.
The second man was taken to Ipswich Hospital with serious injuries.
It is believed the suspect left the scene in a white vehicle.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said: "Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. He has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.
"A 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She also remains in custody at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning."
A cordon is in place at the BP garage, which is closed to members of the public, while detectives continue their inquiries.
