A 50-year-old woman from Felixstowe has been missing for almost a week. 

A huge search and rescue mission was launched on Wednesday, August 2 after Louise Billingham was reported missing in the coastal town.

She has not been seen since.

Three RNLI lifeboats were spotted searching the water just off the coast of Felixstowe. 

Police, ambulance and coastguard crews were spotted outside the Spa Pavilion in the town and people were being asked to avoid the area while a search was carried out. 

What does Louise Billingham look like?

Ms Billingham has been described as white, about 5ft 9ins in height, with short, spiky, dark brown hair.

She wears glasses and uses a mobility scooter, although she is able to walk short distances with the aid of a crutch.

Anyone who believes they have seen Ms Billingham, or who has any information regarding her whereabouts, is asked to contact Suffolk police, quoting CAD 52 of August 2.

What line of enquiries are police carrying out to locate Louise Billingham?

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said: "Since Louise was reported missing officers have been carrying out a thorough investigation including extensive searches of the local area, with assistance from the Coastguard helicopter and RNLI, reviewing CCTV footage, carrying out house-to-house enquiries and enquiries with local residents and businesses, as well as phone activity analysis.

“Officers are continuing with their enquiries and encourage anyone with information, or anyone who believes they have seen her since her disappearance, to contact police.

“We continue to support Louise’s family and keep them updated with our work to find her.”

Felixstowe Mayor Seamus Bennett said: "I am very concerned and I very much hope that this person is found safe and well and I hope that the emergency services can bring a good outcome to this."

Susan Lindsey, shift leader at The Alex Café Bar and Brasserie on the seafront, said many customers had spoken of their shock and concern after seeing the cordon on the promenade.

She said: "The reaction has been one of concern really. Everyone who has been in this morning has said they hope she is found, as you would expect."

And Ryan Sanders, assistant manager at the Spa Pavilion, said: "I would say the reaction has been one of shock. It is a rare occasion that something like this happens."
