Work has started on a new 150-home affordable development in Ipswich.
Handford Homes, which is owned by Ipswich Borough Council, has signed contracts with contractors to start work on the scheme in Bibb Way.
The development is situated on brownfield land which has stoody empty since 2015, having previously been occupied by BT.
A mix of houses and flats will make up the development, all at affordable rent, Ipswich Borough Council has said.
Works at the site will see a new pedestrian access to Handford Road and a new footpath along the Alderman Canal.
Brooks & Wood, Pentaco and Handford Homes are working in partnership with the council to construct the homes.
Colin Kreidewolf, chair of Handford Homes, said: “As part of a bigger initiative to provide affordable homes in Ipswich, Handford Homes will deliver over 300 properties over the next three years.
"Our properties are designed to support our commitment to the environment and sustainable living."
Steven Russell, director of Brooks & Wood, added: “This is an exciting development, and we’re pleased to be partnering with Handford Homes and Pentaco to create beautiful homes for the people of Ipswich."
