An additional two flats will be built as part of the redevelopment of a former sheltered housing development in Ipswich.

An application to create 24 flats in Hanover Court, in Lacey Street, was approved in May.

The proposal had attracted more than 20 objections from neighbours who were concerned that so many new homes would cause parking chaos in the street, with just five available parking spaces to be shared between the new residents.

Ipswich Borough Council responded to these concerns. It approved the application for the flats, but added a condition stating that no resident of Hanover Court will be entitled to purchase a parking permit on Lacey Street.

Now, two more flats have been approved to be created within Hanover Court.

The application suggests turning the existing office space within the main Hanover House building into two ground floor flats.

A planning statement explained: “Due to an omission the 2 no. additional units relating to the office accommodation conversion were not included within the description of development hence the need for this additional application taking the total number of new residential units proposed on the site to 26.”

This planning application seeks approval for the proposed conversion of existing office accommodation within the main Hanover House building into two ground-floor flats.

Each flat would have one bedroom each. They would also both have a “shower room”, an open plan living, kitchen and dining area, and access to a private outside space.

The plans indicated that no extra car parking spaces would be created for these flats. However, they would have access to cycle storage.

Ipswich Borough Council approved the application on July 20.
