A man and a woman have been charged with murder following the death of a child in Ipswich.
Officers attended a property in Sidegate Lane at just after 11.45am on Friday, June 30.
On entering the premises, they discovered the body of a two-year-old girl.
A Home Office post-mortem examination was conducted on Tuesday morning and further tests are required.
Formal identification procedures have not yet taken place.
In the early hours of Saturday, officers arrested two people in Bury St Edmunds in connection with the death.
The pair - who are known to the victim – were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Scott Jeff and Chelsea Gleason-Mitchell - both 22, of no fixed address and formerly of Bedfordshire - have been charged with murder.
They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding previous police contact with the deceased elsewhere.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about this incident to contact the Major Investigation Team, using the online portal or by calling 101 quoting crime reference 37/37749/23.
