Officers investigating the suspicious death of a two-year-old girl in Ipswich have been granted more time to question a man and woman who were arrested on suspicion of murder.
Emergency services were called to a property on Sidegate Lane at about 11.45am on Friday.
Upon entering the address officers discovered the body of a two-year-old girl.
On Saturday a 22-year-old man, from Bedfordshire, and a 22-year-old woman, of no fixed abode, were arrested in Bury St Edmunds on suspicion of murder.
The pair - who are known to the victim - were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
On Tuesday, police made a second application for warrants of further detention at Suffolk Magistrates' Court and have been granted additional time to question the suspects.
This additional time will expire at 1.45am and 1.53am on Wednesday.
A Home Office post-mortem examination is due to take place on Tuesday and a police scene remains in place in Sidegate Lane.
A number of floral tributes have also been laid outside the property.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said the incident is being treated as isolated.
Uniformed officers have been conducting patrols in the vicinity of Sidegate Lane and anyone with any concerns is encouraged to approach them and speak to them.
