The police and coastguard were called to an incident at a Suffolk beach.
Emergency services were called to Felixstowe at about 11pm on Monday.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said the search was in connection with reports of a missing woman.
A significant emergency service presence was spotted in the area.
A HM Coastguard spokeswoman said: "HM Coastguard has been assisting Suffolk Police following reports of an incident in the Felixstowe Pier area last night.
"Alerted at around 11pm, Felixstowe and Shingle Street Coastguard Rescue Teams, lifeboats from Harwich RNLI and the Coastguard helicopter from Lydd were sent to the scene."
The police spokesman confirmed that the woman was found in the area and was not in the water.
