A 38-year-old man has been jailed for more than three years for drug dealing in Ipswich. 

Robert Keegan, of Peterhouse Close, Ipswich, was sentenced to 40 months behind bars at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to be concerned in the supply of heroin and cocaine. 

Detectives established that Keegan was selling class A drugs to users between April 2022 and July 2022. 

Officers found that he issued nearly 3,000 bulk messages during the three-month period.

But between June 8, 2022 and July 6, 2022, they noticed there was no activity on his phone. 

It was revealed that Keegan was in prison, having been recalled following a breach of licence conditions following his arrest for possesion of class A drugs. 

DC Daniel Steel, of the Serious Crime Disruption Team at Suffolk police, said: “This was a classic example of how drug dealers use mobile phones to ply their criminal trade.

"County lines drug dealing has a terrible impact on Ipswich and the surrounding area.

"The sentence passed today reflects this conviction will serve as both an example of what awaits other drug dealers and how meticulously we at Suffolk police will work to put such individuals behind bars".
