A further four arrests have been made after 13 people were found in the back of a refrigerated lorry in Ipswich.

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to an incident at Ransomes Europark in Ipswich at about 10.40am on Thursday.

Suffolk police later confirmed 13 people had been found in the back of a lorry at the site and were believed to have entered the country illegally.

Initially three people, including the driver of the lorry, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of immigration offences

The Home Office has since confirmed that four other people were arrested.

A spokeswoman said: "The government is tackling illegal migration and the harm it causes by removing those with no right to be in the UK.

“We continue to work with law enforcement agencies to tackle illegal migration in all its forms.”

Tom Hunt, MP for Ipswich, described the incident as "extremely dangerous"

He said: "I was very concerned when this was brought to my attention. There are still a number of facts that need to be established but clearly this is an unacceptable and illegal state of affairs."
