Boards have gone up around a once-thriving Ipswich pub which has been listed online as available to rent.

The windows and doors of The Suffolk Punch pub in Norwich Road were boarded up on Monday, May 15.

The pub is currently listed as available to rent on Find My Pub's properties section.

It is currently listed on the site as a tenancy, with minimum ingoing costs being £6,000 and annual rent listed as £8,000.

The estimated value of fixtures and fittings at the pub is around £8,250.

The potential turnover for the pub is listed on the website as £240,000.

The Suffolk Punch has closed numerous times over the past decade, with the most recent time coming in 2020 when they were searching for a new landlady.

It was taken over by Diane Rounds, who previously ran several pubs and a nightclub in London.

The pub is a Grade II listed building, dating back to the 1930s and is one of few to have survived this long from the 'Tolly Folly's' period, built by the former Tollemarche Brewery.

The listing states that the pub is 'well-known by the local community for its weekly entertainment schedule.'

The pub is licenced to play live music indoors until 11.30pm on Monday to Saturday, and recorded music indoors until midnight all week.

This comes after other pubs in Suffolk have recently reopened or look set to, including The Swan in Needham Market, The Badingham White Horse, and the Red Lion Pub in Debenham.
