Nine new flats could soon be available next to the Old Cattle Market bus station in Ipswich town centre.
Ipswich Borough Council has received an application to convert the former office building Knapton Court in Turret Lane into nine, self-contained apartments.
It was first suggested in January last year that the empty office building, which dates back to the 1980s, could be converted into housing.
With the flats in such close proximity to the bus station, it was hoped that they would be particularly attractive to potential residents who did not own their own cars.
The original application to create six new flats, two on each floor, was approved by the council in May.
However, this latest application proposes creating nine flats in total. Four would be on the ground floor, three on the first floor, and two would be added on the second floor.
Plans show that six of these flats would have one bedroom, while the remaining three would have two bedrooms each.
No information was given as to how many car parking spaces each flat would be allocated.
Ipswich Borough Council has set an eight-week target date for a decision of June 21.
