A new Morrisons store has opened in Ipswich town centre.

Morrisons Daily opened to customers for the first time this morning in the Sailmakers Shopping Centre.

The store will have an in-store bakery, Tango Ice Blast machine and Costa Express unit, as well as offer hot food.

A spokesperson for Morrisons said: "We can confirm we've opened a Morrisons Daily in Sailmakers Shopping Centre in Ipswich.

"The store will open its doors today on Friday 21st April and has its own in-store bakery which we hope our customers will love."

The shop has opened in the former McColl's convenience store in Sailmakers Shopping Centre.

It was confirmed last year the firm had plans to close over 100 stores across the country, leaving 1,300 workers at risk of redundancy.

Morrisons purchased the chain as part of a £190million deal.

Joseph Sutton, Morrisons convenience, online and wholesale director, said: "I am confident that McColl’s can, in the Morrisons family, once again become a growing, thriving and vibrant convenience business serving local communities across the UK."
