Detectives have charged a man with murder more than three years after 40-year-old man was attacked in his Ipswich home.
Detectives investigating an incident of grievous bodily harm have charged a man with murder.
The incident happened at about 4am on Tuesday, June 9 2019 in Harland Street, Ipswich.
The 40-year-old man was assaulted at his home address and suffered extensive head and facial injuries and internal abdominal pain.
The suspect then left the area and fled the country, Suffolk police said.
The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
He later passed away in 2021.
Since 2019, police have continued to investigate the crime.
Yesterday, Friday, March 31, the suspect was seen in the UK at Stansted Airport.
He was then arrested for assault and taken into police custody for questioning.
Edgars Slavinski, 30, of Ipswich, has subsequently been charged with murder and committing an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice.
He has been remanded in custody after appearing before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court earlier today.
