As warmer days are coming, a family-run farm near Ipswich is gearing up to host a spring farmers market this weekend.

Oak House Farm in Sproughton has announced its first market of the year, which will take place this Sunday, March 26, from 10am to 2pm.

Buoyed by the success of last year’s events, the team from the Suffolk farm has now taken on the challenge of organising the whole event by themselves.

The owners of Oak House Farm, Ben and Georgina Woolf, said: “We are now arranging the market ourselves.

"It has been lovely to get positive feedback from both stallholders and customers about last year’s events and in particular the special vibe that having a farmers market on a farm brings.

“Our farmers market is an excellent family fun day out. It’s also great to be able to support a number of small local businesses providing goods and services that make Suffolk a unique and exciting place to live.”

Alongside the farm butchery there will be a wide range of about twenty stalls selling a wide variety of goods, from vegetables, to plants, craft items, cakes and art.

The butchery will be selling home reared Red Poll and Shorthorn beef, Old Spot and Large White pork, and a range of lamb and chicken.

The farm will also be cranking up the barbecue to provide sausages, burgers and bacon sandwiches.

In addition to eating, drinking and shopping, there will also be a chance to meet some of the pigs and cattle on the farm and to see some of the more recent arrivals, both piglets and calves.
