There are severe delays throughout Ipswich following an earlier incident on the A14.
Officers were called to a broken down Range Rover in the eastbound carriageway, just after the Orwell Bridge, at about 6.45am.
In a tweet National Highways said there were about six and a half miles of congestion, which caused delays of 30 minutes.
This has impacted traffic in Ipswich during rush hour.
The AA Traffic Map is showing delays in multiple busy roads across the town, including Wherstead Road, Norwich Road, London Road and Valley Road.
The town centre is also experiencing heavy traffic at the Bridge Street roundabouts and the Crown Street area.
Surrounding villages such as Sproughton and Copdock are also seeing delays as drivers seek alternate routes.
Traffic has also built on the A12 in the northbound carriageway leading up to the junction with the A14.
