Planning permission for 26 new homes in Ipswich has been approved.
The council homes, which will be built along Hawke Road and Holbrook Road, were approved by Ipswich Borough Council's Planning and Development Committee on Wednesday.
There will be 20 two, three, and four bedroom houses and six one and two bedroom flats be built. One of the flats will be fully wheelchair accessible and all the new homes can easily be adapted for wheelchair users in the future.
The new homes will be ready for council tenants in 2025.
Colin Kreidewolf, Chair, Ipswich Borough Assets said: "I’m pleased that planning permission has been achieved. This development will see designs that integrate sustainable and ecological benefits by providing EV charging, air source heat pumps, solar panels, increased levels of insulation, and measures to support wildlife with hedgehog highways.
"We are also incorporating a new play area, which will include zones for toddlers, juniors, active climbing, and sports.
"There remains a demand for affordable housing within Ipswich, and this development takes us one step closer to alleviating that demand.”
The designs include sustainable energy, as well as good sized gardens, generous landscaping, ample parking, and a new play area.
