The trial of a 47-year-old former Ipswich man accused of using controlling behaviour towards his former partner has got underway at Ipswich Crown Court.
Keith Mackenzie, formerly of Maritime Court, Ipswich, and now of Cats Lane, Sudbury, has denied wounding his former partner with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, using controlling or coercive behaviour, affray, common assault and assault causing bodily harm.
The offences are alleged to have been committed between 2020 and 2022.
The charge of using controlling or coercive behaviour relates to Mackenzie threatening to bite the alleged victim's nose off and to stab her, checking calls and messages on her phone, accusing her of cheating, forcing her to eat everything on her plate, not letting her eat pork because he didn’t like it, wanting to know where she was, making her wear a hairpiece when she went out with him and isolating her from her friends and family.
A jury was sworn in on Monday and the court is expected to start hearing evidence from witnesses on Tuesday.
