Police are "extremely concerned" for the welfare of a missing Suffolk man who officers believe may have been involved in a crash in west London.

George Houghton was last seen at about 7.30am on Wednesday at his home in Trimley St Martin.

The 85-year-old left the village in his car - a gold Renault Scenic - with the intention to visit Wantage in Oxfordshire.

Update: Mr Houghton has been found in West London

Officers believe that Mr Houghton was involved in a crash near junction three of the M4 the Hounslow area of west London on Tuesday, during which his vehicle sustained front-end damage.

It is then believed Mr Houghton travelled west out of London towards Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, before coming back into London along Uxbridge Road, reaching Ealing at approximately 6pm.

His route from Trimley to Oxfordshire is understood to have been via the A14, A11, M11, M25, and M40.

Mr Houghton is described as white, 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, and with short grey hair. He was last seen wearing sports trousers, a fleece top and waterproof jacket.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said officers are "extremely concerned" for Mr Houghton's welfare.
