A man from Ipswich has been ordered to pay out more than £1,700 after being caught riding an electric scooter while under the influence of ketamine.
The incident happened shortly after midnight on Thursday, June 23 last year while officers on duty drove down Bishop's Hill.
Police spotted Brandon Polley riding an electric scooter, before seeing him fall off the vehicle into the road.
After the police tried to approach him, Polley got back on the scooter and rode away towards Nacton Road.
After ignoring the police when they asked him to stop, an officer stood in front of him in the road and this resulted in a collision between the two.
Blood analysis showed that Polley was six times over the legal limit for ketamine and he was found to be in possession of the substance at the time of the arrest.
Polley appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 17, where he pleaded guilty to a string of offences.
The 22-year-old, of Cauldwell Hall Road, admitted driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a controlled drug above the specified limit substance, namely ketamine, and using a vehicle without insurance.
He also pleaded guilty to failing to stop for police, possession of ketamine, a class B drug, and two counts of riding on a footpath designated for pedestrian use.
Polley was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £1,722 in financial penalties.
