Suffolk: Do you remember these old popular nightclubs

Did you ever enjoy a night out in one of these Suffolk clubs?

Liquid

The club, which first opened in 1999 was regularly packed out, with long queues of clubbers eagerly waiting to get in.

In 2005 the nightclub was extended under the Liquid and Envy brand name, with two clubs under one roof.

Over the years top musical names appeared there including DJ EZ, East 17, Coolio and Olly Murs.

The club, which was renamed to UNIT 17, closed down in April last year. 

Jades

Now a McDonald's restaurant Jades used to be a popular place to spend a night out.

Before becoming a nighclub The Gainsborough pub was a place much-loved by Sudbury locals. 

Trader Jack's

At Trader Jack's in Ipswich, a selection of DJs and performers would appear at special event nights, such as the hip hop night depicted here in 1999.

The bar was located next to Zest in the original Hollywood's club.

Reflex/Club Brazilia

The Station Hill nightclub was popular among the people of Bury St Edmunds and surrounding villages.

Originally Reflex before becoming Club Brazilia, the nighttime venue closed in the mid 2010's as construction took pace on the site.

Hollywood

One of the most popular nightclubs in Ipswich during the 80s and 90s. 

The venue, in the former maltings near the railway station, opened in 1988.

A wide range of events included indie nights and DJ club nights, with queues to get in sometimes extending over Princes Street bridge.

Events held at Hollywood’s, as it was known, ranged from a children’s Christmas party in 1988 to a carnival queen pageant in 1989.

The club was given a makeover in the 1990s, when its name was changed to Kartouche, and then in 2003 changed its identity again, to Zest. It is now The Maltings office complex.
