Suffolk primary schools have until Friday to sign up to be in with a chance of winning £1,000 of Lego.

In January, this newspaper launched a new campaign to give primary schools the chance to win vouchers to spend on Lego educational toys.

From February 20 and April 29, tokens will be appearing daily in the East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star, and weekly in the Beccles & Bungay Journal and Lowestoft Journal.

The winning schools - decided by the number of tokens collected as a ratio to the number of pupils - will receive £1,000 of toys.

In 2019, the winning schools were Orford CEVA Primary School, Elmsett Church of England Primary School and Charsfield Primary School.

Leigh Hilton is the headteacher at Elmsett.

She said: “The children love building with Lego and have so much fun that they don't even realise how much they are learning.

“The fact that Lego can be used by the youngest to the oldest learners makes it a key tool to support learning at our school. Engagement with learning activities is greatly enhanced when Lego is introduced.

Gemma Cannon is the headteacher at Orford.

She said: “Winning the Lego competition meant we were able to purchase some of the more advanced kits, like Lego WeDo, which have been an incredibly popular addition to our computing/STEM curriculum, as well as to our after offer of school clubs.

“By using Lego, all of our children have been able to access robotics and programming in this engaging and fun way.”

Schools can register now at: archant.wufoo.com/forms/win-educational-equipment providing a contact name, email address, postal address and telephone number and how many pupils you have in the school.

The final deadline for schools to register is Friday, February 3 at 5pm.
