A man remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a serious two-vehicle crash on the A14 between Ipswich and Felixstowe.

Emergency services, including two air ambulances, were called to the crash in the eastbound carriageway close to the Seven Hills Interchange at about 7am on Monday.

The crash involved a car and a lorry, Suffolk police said.

The eastbound carriageway was closed between junction 58 and 59 while emergency services attended the scene of the crash.

A man was taken to Ipswich Hospital in a serious condition.

The road reopened at about 1pm - almost six hours after the crash was first reported.

Felixstowe School was forced to close due to staffing issues as a number of teachers were unable to get into work as a result of the crash.

There was also standstill traffic around Ipswich town centre during Monday's rush hour

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage of the area is asked to contact the Joint Norfolk & Suffolk Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting incident reference number 37/5812/23.
