The bells at two Ipswich churches have tolled as a mark of respect to an 18-year-old stabbed to death in the town centre.
Shortly after 3.30pm today, St Mary-Le-Tower and St Mary at the Elms rang the bells 18 times in tribute to Raymond James Quigley, exactly seven days on from the teenager's death.
Each of the chimes represented a year of the 18-year-old's life.
Reverend Tom Mumford is the vicar of St Mary-le-Tower.
He said: “For me, this was an opportunity for the community to come together, to grieve together, and share the grief and shock that they are feeling.
“The good thing about the tolling of the bells, and the bells at St Mary at the Elms, is that they can be heard all over town.
“It has enabled people everywhere, whether they are at work or perhaps in the nearby shops, to stand still and have a moment.”
Raymond James Quigley died after being stabbed in Westgate Street on Tuesday afternoon, January 17.
Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with his death and appeared in court earlier today.
