Woodbridge Warriors paid their respects to their former president and Leicester Tigers player ahead of their game on January 21.

A minute's applause was held before Woodbridge Warriors' clash against Norwich Union on Saturday in memory of Mike Lubbock who passed away on January 11 at the age of 90.

Mike and his wife Jill moved to Woodbridge in 1961 and began a 47-year family involvement at Woodbridge School.

In 1969, Mike was one of the founding members of Woodbridge Rugby Club and helped pull together like-minded individuals, who formed Woodbridge RUFC.

Mike, who played for Leicester Tigers on 95 occasions, was the Warriors' first club captain and led the club as president for 24 years.

In 2006, Mike was awarded the Torch Award, presented by the Duchess of Wessex as national recognition for his work with Rugby.
