Dozens of German football fans descended on Ipswich this weekend to watch Town's huge game with Plymouth Argyle.

Members of the Fortuna Blues group, who follow both Fortuna Dusseldorf and Ipswich, drove to Suffolk from Germany over Friday evening.

They made the most of their stay in the town, enjoying drinks at Bears Pool & Snooker bar in Star Lane and watching the Tractor Boys clash with League One table-toppers Plymouth.

The Germans took over huge parts of Portman Road for the game on Saturday afternoon, which ended 1-1 after goals from Town star Wes Burns and the visitors' Bali Mumba – a Norwich City loanee.

The crowd of 29,069 was Portman Road's highest attendance since the Championship play-off semi-final against Norwich back in 2015.

After Saturday's game, the supporters enjoyed a few more drinks before heading back to the continent on bus.

Fortuna Blues' friendship with Ipswich fans dates back to 2006 after former stadium announcer Ulli Münsterberg and his party wanted to find an English team to watch.

They settled on Town and have been making regular visits in the years since, though Covid and Brexit have meant a formal trip hadn't been held since 2020.
