Despite not always receiving national praise, there are plenty of beautiful places to live and visit in Suffolk. 

Walberswick was recently named one of the poshest villages in the UK by The Times, overlooking other lovely spots. 

Here are five villages in Suffolk that are definitely worth a visit. 

1. Tuddenham

Home to the award-winning Tuddenham Mill, the village is definitely worth a visit.

Located in the west of the county, Tuddenham is a small village but has lots of wonderful walks and some lovely farm shops. 

2. Shotley

Take a stroll along the Suffolk coastline when you visit Shotley. 

Last year a photographer managed to capture an amazing picture of the Milky Way over The Strand near Shotley Peninsula. 

If you are looking for a pub with a view then The Butt & Oyster in Pin Mill, close to Shotley, is the place to go. 

It was recently listed in The Observer's 20 best pubs by rivers and lakes in the UK.

3. Covehithe

Located next to Southwold, Covehithe is a place worth visiting if you are in the area.

Known for its peaceful walks, this village is the place to go to get away from it all. 

With its unspoilt beaches, it is also popular among bird watchers, fossil hunters and dog walkers alike.

4. Bures

Bures is a great place to visit with its historic houses and traditional pubs. 

The village which is close to Sudbury is right on the Suffolk and Essex border. 

There are plenty of great walks in and around Bures including Arger Fen. 

Bures is home to two pubs that are great for a pit stop after a walk.  

5. Orford

The mesmerising coastal village should be on everybody's list when visiting Suffolk.

Home to the award-winning bakery, Pump Street Bakery, Orford is known for its areas of natural beauty. 

The historic village was also recently featured in the BBC Two programme Villages by the Sea.
