Plans to renew the use of a 104-space car park until 2027 have been submitted to Ipswich Borough Council.
Slade Street car park, which is accessed via Star Lane, was previously handed permission to be used as a pay and display back in 2020 - with the stipulation that this would be rescinded in February 2022.
The reason for this was that the council did not want to constrain the site's potential for future redevelopment.
The new application is set to be discussed at a planning and development committee meeting on January 11.
Officers have recommended approval provided the use shall cease on or before January 11, 2027 - with the council's existing housing trajectory identifying the site as coming forward for housing development in 2027/28 and 2028/29.
Plans must also ensure parking is restricted to short-stay only and include details for electric charging points, disabled parking and CCTV.
