Queues at Aldi stores today can mean only one thing - viral energy drink Prime is now on sale.
Tens of people queued from the early morning at Aldi stores around Ipswich to get bottles of Prime, the energy drink created by YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul.
The drink appeared on the store’s shelves on December 29 and was quickly sold out.
One of the shoppers, Clare Friel, said: “I got down to Aldi on Felixstowe Rd this morning at 7.50 am as heard about this Prime drink.
“I thought I would do my food shop and see if I could get some. I have seen it in other shops for £15 a bottle.
“When I arrived at Aldi, the queue was huge, the biggest I’ve seen since lockdown when a limited number of people could go in.
“I luckily managed to get the last bottle. They sold out within under five minutes. The staff were great, and limited to one bottle per person.”
Another shopper, Steph Ward, who aimed to get a few bottles for her son, Ethan, said: “We got up at 6.30 am this morning, drove to Martlesham to see if we could beat the queues to get this Prime drink that my son has been desperate to get his hands on.
“We were soon informed that we needed to go to the store at Felixstowe Road.
“We pulled up at about 7.15 am to about 8-10 people, so there we stood for 45 mins in the cold waiting for the doors of Aldi to open, once open the rush happened but the staff managed to keep order by handing out the bottles to people.”
In a statement, Aldi said: "The viral hydration drink created by two popular YouTube stars, KSI and Logan Paul, is available to buy for just ÂŁ1.99 in Aldi stores nationwide on December 29.
“The drink will be a Specialbuy – and as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone!
"The supermarket is expecting high demand, so a purchase limit of one of each variant per customer has been set to ensure as many people as possible get the opportunity to buy the product."
