Pret A Manger has said it is not looking to open a café in Ipswich town centre despite its logo appearing on a boarded-up shop.
A red Pret logo has been seen on boards covering the former Patisserie Valerie in the Butter Market street.
But a spokesman for the firm said there are currently "no plans" to start work at the store.
There are two Pret stores in both Cambridge and Norwich, but there are none in Suffolk.
A similar situation emerged in March this year when a Pret logo also appeared on a closed store in the town centre - this time at the former Burger King in Westgate Street.
Pret also said at the time that it was not looking to take over the unit.
The company did plan to open a store in Ipswich a few years ago, putting in a detailed application to transform part of the former Grimwades store on the Cornhill in early 2018.
