One lane of the A12 near Ipswich was closed this morning while firefighters extinguished a blaze which broke out in a lorry.
Two fire engines from Princes Street and Ipswich East were sent to the scene, just before the Capel St Mary junction, at 11.11am today.
The lorry, which was empty at the time, was able to be moved onto the slip road to minimise disruption to drivers.
Crews managed to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes and a stop was called on the incident at 11.33am.
Police were also called to the scene and closed one lane to traffic.
A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said: “We were called just after 11am by the fire service to reports of a lorry fire on the A12 southbound at Capel St Mary.
“The vehicle is now on the slip road and Highways England were called to clear the road surface.
“The lorry is awaiting recovery and should be moved away soon.”
