Memory

Snow on the beach in Walberswick circa 1990. This was my first visit to Suffolk. Eight years later I moved up for good.

Beach

South Beach at Lowestoft in 2019 for the first First Light Festival! The sun shone and 30,000 people joined us to celebrate the longest day of summer. The free festival returns this June (18/19) for 24 hours of music, theatre, dance and lots more.

Shop

Snape Maltings for the location, and the greengrocers Wards in Debenham. Owner Andrew makes numerous early morning visits to New Covent Garden Market each week and returns with the best selection of seasonal fruit and veggies. Combine this with the helpful, friendly staff, you can’t go wrong.

Attraction/Day Out

Swimming at Beccles Lido whatever the weather, or a visit to the newly refurbed Stowmarket Regal cinema. Both are well worth supporting.

Landmark

South beach at Lowestoft - again where First Light Festival takes place. Where else can you camp in the sand dunes (only during the festival weekend obviously).

Place to eat

It has to be veggie breakfast at the Common Room in Framlingham. But I'm also very excited to be involved in the reopening of the East Point Pavillion in Lowestoft which is set to become a small food hall. It’s such an amazing location and First Light Festival CIC will be running a schedule of live music, DJs and performances, alongside a varied calendar of artisan markets and community-led workshops and events.

Pub

The Cretingham Bell - a great local and many a fun evening enjoyed in the bar! And the bar at The Smokehouse in Ipswich pre-gig.

Export

Jams and pates made in Crowfield by Suffolk Pate Company and Aspalls Cyer - nectar of the gods.

Town/Village

Framsden. I have lived here for 20 years which I can’t quite believe
