A 40-year-old man from Ipswich has been fined as he was sentenced for assault and failing to surrender for custody.
Shane Andrews, who is of Bramford Lane in the Suffolk town, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court charged with two offences.
These were failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time at Suffolk Magistrates' Court on September 13, having been released on bail on July 27, as well as assaulting a man on January 15 in Ipswich.
The defendant pleaded guilty to both charges, a court document said.
For the failing to surrender for custody charge, Andrews was told to pay a fine of £80. No order for costs was made.
For the assault, no order for compensation was made as the man he attacked had since died.
Magistrates at the court imposed no further penalty on Andrews for the assault charge.
The defendant's guilty pleas were taken into account when magistrates decided on his sentence.
