Two football matches will mark the Kevin Beattie Foundation Charity Cup this year - the annual celebration by Ipswich Town fans to honour the memory of the man many believe to have been our greatest ever player.

The event takes place on July 13 at FC Clacton, beginning at 1pm with a match between FC Clacton and Harwich & Parkeston FC reserves.

The highlight of the event will follow - a thrilling game between the senior teams of FC Clacton and Harwich & Parkeston FC.

Malcolm Thompson, founder of the foundation, said: "Expect a match brimming with intense competition, strategic play, and numerous goals that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It will be a day filled with sportsmanship, community spirit and charitable giving."

The Foundation aims to keep Kevin Beattie’s legacy and name alive while raising awareness of various illnesses and charities.

All proceeds from the Charity Cup will support the Kevin Beattie Foundation, which helps numerous local charities and good causes including East Anglian Children’s Hospices (EACH), Join our Boys Trust, and the Brain Tumour Charity.

After the game, there will be a bumper raffle and auction, featuring a wide array of generously donated prizes.

The Kevin Beattie Foundation was established when Malcolm walked over 331 miles from Carlisle, Beattie’s birthplace, to Ipswich in September 2020, raising funds with the help of Ipswich Town fans and the PFA.
