Local businesses and organisations are being invited to take part in the brand new 2024 Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon Corporate Challenge.
The Corporate Challenge will run alongside the main event, the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon, on Sunday, September 22.
Teams of all sizes, backgrounds and abilities can compete in the challenge which aims to interject friendly competition between teams and enhance overall wellbeing within organisations, while encouraging team members to embrace a more active and healthier lifestyle.
Teams are a minimum of four and rather than competing as individuals, will work collectively to cross the line in the quickest combined time to be crowned Corporate Challenge Champions of the 2024 Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon.
In addition, the Corporate Challenge includes a few extra perks, including a race day kit, team t-shirts and prizes for the winners.
In partnership with Suffolk Council and Ipswich Borough Council, the events are being organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, the UK’s largest not-for-profit events company.
Ipswich Accountants and Business Advisors, Larking Gowen build on their continued support of the Ipswich Half Marathon by taking title sponsorship of the Corporate Challenge.
Graham Mummery at Larking Gowen, said: "Sporting events like these are a great opportunity to tap into some healthy competition whilst getting fit! They cultivate teamwork and provide an avenue for businesses to connect with fellow professionals. It’s an excellent chance to forge new relationships whilst having fun, and we would encourage other local businesses to get involved and compete against the formidable #TeamLG!”
Siobhan Curtis, Marketing and Communications Director at Run For All said: “We are delighted to open entries for the 2024 Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon Corporate Challenge. A huge thank you to Larking Gowen for their continued support to the Ipswich Half Marathon. Their commitment enhances our participants' race day experience and displays their support of the local community in Ipswich.”
The route starts and finishes at Portman Road Stadium, the home of Ipswich Town Football Club taking runners via many of the town’s landmarks including Ipswich Waterfront, Holywells Park and the River Orwell.
Runners are encouraged to fundraise for their own charity of choice or one of the event’s partner charities; the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, St Elizabeth Hospice, Lighthouse Women’s Aid, Home Start, Families Together Suffolk, Ipswich Town Foundation, Suffolk Libraries, Suffolk Mind, Brave Futures and RSPCA Suffolk.
The event’s official sponsors include Larking Gowen, Ipswich Town Football Club, Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk County Council, Ipswich Fit, Run R, Ipswich Jaffa Running Club, High 5, Coopah and Arla Protein, Shokz, Gradwell and Marathon Photos Live.
