Almost 40 children and 20 parents took part in the first session of a new club for families with twins and triplets.
The club had its first meeting last Friday, November 11, at the Alan Road Methodist Church.
Shannon Steele, a mum of triplets, Nicola McCarthy and Jo Wilder, mums of twins, who are the committee members of the club, said that the meeting was “an incredible success”.
They added: “We had 18 families join in, which equalled 37 children.
“It was far more than we could ever have hoped for, and we are so proud and happy at getting such incredible support.
“We did some lovely arts and crafts based around Remembrance Day and a certificate memento for the families to keep.
“The children and families all seemed to enjoy themselves, and some of the feedback we received in person and on social media said that everybody had a lovely time.
“Parents thanked us for organising the club, as they didn’t know that there were so many multiples mamas so nearby.
“Everybody had so much fun that morning.”
The organisers said that children loved playing with each other while their parents had a moment to drink a cup of tea and socialise.
Parents with their babies and toddlers will meet up every Friday from 9.30am to 11.30am to play, chat and have lots of fun. The weekly admission costs £3.
Ipswich Multiples Club members have already set a date for their Christmas party, which will take place on December 16.
They said: "We have been very lucky getting some amazing raffle prizes from local companies for the party, but are still on the lookout for more."
The idea for the initiative was born from a What’s App twin group that was set up during the pandemic.
The members of the club said: “Being a parent of multiples is a unique experience, and we have all come to rely on each other for support, friendship and laughter.
“After we had been chatting, we realised that many families with twins and triplets are based in and around Ipswich.
“The idea for an Ipswich-based club grew from there.”
