Salmon Neil Neil Paul Salmon died peacefully in Ipswich Hospital on 3 May 2024. He was 91, the same age as was his devoted wife of 65 years, Joyce, when she died last year. Neil was the loving father of Tom, Frank and Kay, and proud grandfather of Francesca, Alexander and Isobel. Daughter-in-law Catharine and son-in-law Den have also been key members of his family. Born in Hadleigh, Neil became a passionate Ipswichian: English teacher at Northgate School for 30 years; Secretary and Chairman of Ipswich Film Society for 40 years; member/Vice-Chairman of Ipswich Film Theatre Advisory Committee for its 32-year existence; film reviewer for Ipswich Arts Association's Images magazine for 20 years; editor of the Ipswich Society Newsletter for 23 years and instigator of the town's Blue Plaques scheme; member of Ipswich Chamber Music Society since 1965 and author of its programme notes; member of Ipswich Labour Party since the 1960s; and inveterate ITFC supporter. He did not waste a moment of life. There will be a private funeral for family and close friends. A celebration of Neil's life and achievements will be held in the UNITARIAN MEETING HOUSE on 3 August 2024 at 2:30 pm at which all are welcome.Your tribute has been received.
